A. Maternal And Child Health (MCH): It refers to the promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health care for mother and children, family planning, school health, care of handicapped children, adolescence etc.

2.      Promotion of reproductive health

3.      Promotion of physical and psychological development of the adolescent within the family.

B. Reproductive and Child Health Program (RCH): It effectively improve the health status of women and children by fulfilling family welfare services in the country

C. Integrated child development Programme( ICDS):

  • ·         Launched on 2nd oct 1975
  • ·         It is one of the flagship programmes of the gov. of India and represents one of the largest and unique programmes for childhood care and development

Purpose:

  • ·         Routine MCH Services for those people who cannot  reach target population
  • ·         Nutritional component not covered by health services
  • ·         Need for more community participation

D. Breastfeeding and Weaning

  • Exclusive Breastfeeding: till 6 month of age only breastfeeding should be given , no any artificial feed nor any other feed should be given
  • Weaning: it is also known as complementary feeding, after 6 month of age baby should be introduced with another food such as semi liquid, semi solid etc. along with the breast milk

. E. BFHI (baby friendly hospital Initiative)

            WHO and UNICEF launched the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) to help and to motivate breastfeeding. WHO has called upon all facilities providing maternity and newborn services worldwide to implement the Ten Steps.
